Justice should not be about retribution but about restitution. Retribution hurts both parties and just teaches offenders that if you go against someone with more power then they will hurt you and you should do the same if put in the same position. Yes, the kids could blame one in order to try to get out of trouble but when I spoke to trying to find the leader it was not to single them out for greater punishment as I don't believe that any one would have done this with out the others but to help figure thier roles in the insident and help council them better. If you are the leader then why this? Why so angry? If you are the follower then why follow even though you knew it was wrong? Were you looking for an outlet for your anger? All of these kids have been changed by this incedent and no none will have the opportunities they might have had. What is needed now is to still give them hope for future opportunites with hard work and understanding of thier crime.
