Are emotions just advanced forms of fear and pleasure?
It seems that all animals sense fear and pleasure. Are all emotions just derivatives of fear and pleasure? To get beyond emotions, would it require that humans become like rocks and trees (no longer animal)? Is it possible to remain human and be without emotions?

Have you ever seen the movie Equilibrium? The premise of that movie is that an injection was made that would remove emotion. The thought being if no one hated, everyone would live in peace. There would be no war, no problems, nothing. However, in my opinion no, we are not humans if we do not sense emotion. We are simply there taking up space.

Is being human such a good thing? We kill one another, damage the planet, and can be pretty cruel.
